@leedslitfest.bsky.social is bringing together comics, creativity, and conversation this June, and we've picked out three brilliant events for graphic novel fans, aspiring creators, and anyone interested in the power of storytelling.
Graphic novelists @myfanwytristram.bsky.social and @rickardsisters.com explore protest, activism, and the role comics can play in challenging injustice. A timely and thought-provoking discussion about speaking up and making change through art.

Terrifying thread which raises the point I often think about.
Fascism didn't start in 1939 like most people seem to think.
It started long before Hitler was even elected. It's insidious.

Why graphic novels?

The right to protest is under attack — often painted as sinister, dangerous, even illegal. Through their graphic novels, Myfanwy
There are, in my view, 25 things everyone needs to understand in light of recent events:
1) Those out in our communities last night were not protestors, but organised far right extremists.
2) Their actions align with fascist ideologies.
3) So yes: these are fascist practices on our streets.
