My main reaction is anger towards the many, many people who have held him up as a saint when he played a major role in destroying the union he took the credit for building. Let's all try to actually honor and learn from the ACTUAL heroes of history.

So, the revelations of sexual abuse of underage girls by Cesar Chavez reported today are terrible, but not exactly surprising for those who have read the history of the UFW.

When anyone reads labor history, 2 things become pretty clear. 1- the absolute heroics of so many workers in the face of the grinding misery that bosses put us through. 2- the absolute betrayal of so many so-called leaders. Many in the former category are women, most of the latter are men.
