What a terrible update this is.
I’m saddened for AISD students, and hope to see some LOUD, angry parents, students, school board members, and librarians speaking out about this.

Austin ISD will split librarians across some campuses after previously saying the positions would not be cut.
While these budget cuts are awful, there is a lesson to be learned here. It was
LOUD
COMMUNITY
SUPPORT
that prevented these budgetary decisions from eliminating librarian staffing decisions from the equation.
Austin ISD librarians, students, and parents showed up and it worked. Kudos!
