I'm not a fan of the concept of defaming the dead but Google should be held responsible for fake 'information', particularly when it defames the living with false accusations. And nobody should be relying on the "information" AI Overviews gives you without verifying every word. <End rant>

It turns out that Shimokado Zentaro was actually a co-owner of a boarding house in North Queensland. There's not word in the PhD about him being an IJN officer or being tried for war crimes. The thesis is actually about the local Nikkei community in North Queensland from 1885-1946. And no ... /4
