Banana was an extremely poor choice at best to wear to a performance by one of the very, very few bands in hardcore touring with POC member/s.
Racism and racist acts aren’t welcome in the hardcore community. I think banana man was rightfully educated
Oh i agree it probably wasn’t his intent. However, as an audience member at a show you are choosing to enter a community. Many ppl in our community saw that act as deeply offensive. If you don’t know the community, maybe don’t try to make yourself the center of it. Or deal with the consequences 🤷🏻♀️
Simply put, End It are one of the very, very few HC bands touring with POC member/s, there are others but this is a predominately white male dominated space.
Whether or not it was his intent, the banana costume was seen as racist in this context and therefore not welcome. Simple.
White man chooses to wear a racist costume to show. POC musicians performing said show call for racist costume to be removed. White man sulks about his racist light being dimmed. POC musicians silenced publicly for being “aggressive”.

Just found out that the musician who ruined a #Survivor50 episode is playing the UFC fight at the White House. I’m not surprised but I really don’t like the proximity of it all 😒

Costumes have long been seen as an act of disrespect in the hardcore community. Wearing a banana to an End It show is a racist choice that isn’t welcome. Hardcore is for everyone. Except those that spread hate
Yeah I agree it’s better than it used to be but there’s still a lot of work to do including making sure our performers are in safe spaces. The guy chose to wear the suit, chose to go in the pit, and if he’s listened to end it, that combo was never a good choice. These are the consequences. 🤷🏻♀️
