What is the current state of gender inequity in institutional leadership roles at US academic medical centers?
Our systematic scoping review analyzed data from 94 articles between 2019-2022 focusing on deans, department chairs, division chiefs, and program directors.

We found that while there are more women in medicine than ever before, inequities in leadership attainment by women persist across all roles studied. These findings suggest that systems and organizational level changes are essential to recruit and retain diverse leaders in academic medicine.
