Oh hey, #MyAdventuresWithSuperman is back! This show is a delight. "Superman as a goofy anime romcom" is such a fun take on the franchise. Though that reminds me I need to finish that "Boimler has a Superman holodeck program" fanfic I started some time ago ...
And the funny thing is, while one of my elevator pitches for my book is "What if D'artagnan was a sword lesbian with a giant robot," I'd never label it a mechsploitation novel, as ... well, the book is firmly in the "hell yes robots are rad" camp. (I always liked Gurren Lagann more than NGE).
And heck, "what if being a giant robot pilot was bad, actually" goes all the way back to Gundam, if not earlier. But I dare say mechsploitation has a direct parallel with a lot of other queer horror?
Thinking about my misbegotten youth, and the untold hours I spent on various MUSH-es and other online chat-based RPGs. Which had the advantage of being privately run social games, and not, y'know, giant megacorp torment nexuses. But yeah. Time for kids to start making cringey OC's, I guess?
And now 11dragonkid has me thinking about #mechsploitation, which strikes me as very ... specific subgenre. Though I find it fairly interesting in that one can directly point at specific works (namely, NGE and Armored Core 6) and say "Like that, but gayer. Like, WAY gayer."
Pretty sure I remember this episode of G-Gundam.

THIS IS WHY YOU POST ABOUT THE STUFF YOU MAKE. I've never heard of Marc and if I had been driving my tires would have screeched I hit the brakes so fast and insta-bought because this is EXACTLY MY SHIT. I literally would not have seen it existing had he not been posting about it and now I'm HYPE.

3800 years ago, before the invention of paper, a customer was not satisfied with his copper purchase and wrote a harsh message to the businessman Ea-nasir, etching it on both sides of a clay tablet in cuneiform.
