This week's blog is about Brum. The city of a thousand trades, including mine: awfulrigourswretchedpay.com/2026/06/13/b...
It's my day off today. I have 6 online meetings and 10 assignments to mark. Hit it!
If you can't work for a gaffer, at least you know what you need to do to set yourself up. I do hear a lot of young people wanting to be influencers. They also need to understand monetisation and how that works. I honestly don't think that is taught at all ( I could be wrong though!)
Funnily enough, most of the people I was talking to yesterday had doctorates! I teach postgraduates in a university. Tiny minds indeed!
Whilst being an influencer isn't something I could necessarily advise on, some people have become very successful and it has led onto a more traditional enterprise. Good luck to them I say. If life doesn't give you opportunity, you can try and make it (some of my ancestors were costermongers!)
I think she has a great future in stand-up. She delivers the punchline absolutely dead-pan. I know kids, she's playing with those presenters.
YES!! 👏👏👏 She's not wrong
One easy win IMO would be teaching entrepreneurial skills. If you want to be a plumber, a market trader, an artist, an online seller etc. you need to understand how to manage money and promote your enterprise. Business Studies isn't taught until KS4 and is optional.
