Ok, venting about a map that annoyed me lead to a fairly involved internal argument about the actual purpose of maps in an RPG. It was an argument because I *thought* I had a pretty good answer, but apparently that answer had some holes in it.
So, let's talk maps.

I’ll also add this: editing a TTRPG is not just a spelling & grammar pass. These are complex technical documents. Running them through a spellchecker isn’t going to cut it because it can’t spot rules or plot inconsistencies. TTRPG editors need to understand the rule system to do their job well.
Stoked to see someone else recall how great this book is! There's a few old 3.5 splats I'll refer back to for various reasons, and Heroes of Horror is a top 5 of the era for me.
