National Theatre of Scotland at 20: Culture, Democracy, and the Stateless Nation is a day of conversations on how the arts shape Scotland’s society and democratic life, hosted at @scotstorycentre.bsky.social on 23 Oct
Bringing together researchers, theatre-makers, writers, cultural practitioners, policymakers, activists, and community organisations, the event will explore how culture and storytelling contribute to public life at a time when democratic values come under pressure worldwide.
This remounted version of highly acclaimed playful and poetic look at Scottish culture and identity is directed by Joanna Bowman and opens at the Scottish Storytelling Centre on 6 August as part of the Made in Scotland showcase at the @edfringe.bsky.social

Congratulations to the excellent cast, crew and creatives of this show, who have done justice to the inspiring story of the Lee Jeans strikers and thrilled audiences across Scotland! 👏
We are delighted to announce the full cast of Through the Shortbread Tin, who will be joining writer and performer Martin O’Connor on tour this year.
Raising their voices will be Josie Duncan, Iona Mairead and Mairi McGillivray!
Bel, a new documentary directed by Lou Lockwood, has been selected as the closing film for the Edinburgh International Film Festival 2026, marking the world premiere of this stirring and important new film.
Bel will receive its World Premiere on 19 August 2026.
