The tales of the children in seasons 3 and 4 stop the heart in many ways. The actual, complex meaning of pathos. The way they depict the emergence of natural talent and interest, even in the stultifying environment of an American middle school.
Same, though I made sure my wife watched it with me once. They’re such deep, sympathetic, believable characters.
And then the academic at the end of s4 being like “Well, but it’ll make great research” makes me want to hurl
Too much to say about this, certainly more than skeets can handle. I lived a chunk of this experience w/ Ding Guangquan as my master. Meeting Mark and getting onstage w/ him in Haiwa’i put his side in sharper perspective. (I have a story about his punch lines that only comedians can appreciate.)
I don’t agree with the conventional wisdom. House of Dragons is better than Knight of the Seven Kingdoms. Kinda think people give the former more hate because it’s primarily about women. It’s a better show with a more complex plot and deeper characters.
Work/life balance, family, and exercise are important and should not be sacrificed on the altar of your research
