This laziness is analogous to correctly identifying that lead in paint harms kids, then proceeding to ban all schools from being painted rather than regulating all paint companies
So, so many red flags for this government, but the most bizarrely ignored is running a "sacrifice 45% to get 40% but in the right places" strategy and then getting 34% and basically carrying on as if that hadn't happened.
Nah sorry this is mental.
"Social media has harmful features which are addictive and rob people of their time" - Starmer is making an excellent argument for thoughtful regulation of social media for everyone. If infinite scrolling or dopamine-maxxing algos are bad (I agree they are!) then regulate those features for all!
Let's remember one thing before Starmer goes: this is the man who thought it would be a good idea to risk thousands upon thousands of deaths in poor countries by cutting aid to own the libs. Don't let the door hit you on the way out, mate.

Well it didn’t happen to Albo in Australia. The secret is: be more social democratic!
and another one:
"The hard work of change was with a singular purpose. Not power for power's sake but to change Britain for the better."
So the hard work of change (??) was with (?) a singular purpose, which was... change?

I hate to say this, really I do, but in 2026 banning access to YouTube for teens is like stopping them from going to
the library.

Starmer just said infinite scroll "stops children doing their homework" ahead of banning all u16s from being able to access YouTube to do their homework.
The UK will reduce aid spending to 0.3% of gross national income in 2027 (the lowest level since 1999) to fund higher defence spending.
Regulating children is not the same thing as regulating social media platforms. Seems very important to distinguish between the two. However, social media platforms tend to be run by powerful billionaires, so easier to go after the kids instead.
