On Friday, I joined Evan Davies on BBC Radio 4 to discuss funding for our national defence. My position is clear, defending our country must be the Government's first priority. (1/3)
This included where #PersonalIndependencePayment claimants had taken their lives when their claims were stopped. We have now launched: 'Safeguarding Vulnerable Claimants: One Year On', investigating how DWP has sought to change its practices and culture when dealing with vulnerable people. (2/3)
Last May 2025, the #WorkandPensionsCommittee published its report for the 'Safeguarding Vulnerable Claimants' inquiry. This was launched in response to serious concerns about #DWP's safeguarding practices in cases which involved the deaths of claimants. (1/3)

I raised this with the Foreign Secretary, and called on her to outline the consequences for any business or entity in the UK that chooses to breach the UK's Overseas business risk guidance. (2/2)
Funding this properly does not mean making arbitrary cuts to our social security spending which would further compound the issues faced by many vulnerable people. (2/3)

Action to deter businesses in the UK from taking part in the construction of illegal Israeli settlements is welcome, but I was deeply disturbed to learn of a real estate event scheduled to take place in London this weekend, selling land in an illegal settlement in the occupied West Bank. (1/2)
