The scale of the Megaloceros horns is incredible (Zoology museum of the Jagellonian University). They grown them in a single year and then shed it, and repeated the cycle next year. How on Earth they acquired sufficient amount of minerals and nutrients?

An ancient lineage of cyanobacteria is helping biologists uncover an early evolutionary stage of the mind-boggling process that turns light into life.
Scientists have developed a new tool that makes bird genomes faster and easier to assemble — including tiny pieces of DNA that are usually missed. 🐦⬛
The new tool, known as MicroFinder, could help improve research into bird evolution, biodiversity and conservation. 👇

MicroFinder can be used to assemble bird genomes much quicker and more accurately than ever before.
Giant clams produce ~8 kg/cm2 of closure pressure (114 psi), less than a human bite. So you'd feel a big pinch if one closed on you, but not dangerous! They generally don't want you in their shells with them, so they'll reopen if you keep still, and large clams often can't close completely […]
