“Fail upward”—truer words never spoken. This creates a huge success barrier to women and those who aren’t white who aren’t allowed to compete on level ground with such “winners.” Just fact. Don’t get me started about what it means for women media entrepreneurs. That’ll be its own book someday. Damn.

This is .. a choice. SMH.
What really gets me is how many pre-frame women as competing
with men and are convinced (by men) that they can’t support both. The race to “pick winners” at others’ disadvantage is a sick American tradition. And it’s very harmful in journalism where healthy ecosystems are key to serving full public.
