People who are good at marketing now are heavy consumers of marketing of the product or service they’re selling. Not as researchers but as true believers—that’s what an influencer is. I wouldn’t even call it a grift it’s more like a cult.
Watched Mad Max (1979) for the first time. It’s so strange and unsettling and beautiful but I guess if you include cars and revenge people accept it as mainstream whatever else it is.
I watched Salo and Caligula it was off-putting but I was basically alright. But if a detail closely mirrors a past trauma it can be triggering, it’s got nothing really to do with a film’s rating or intensity.
Blade Runner 2049 was triggering to me in the theatre the first time because of specific associations in one scene and it isn’t anymore. It’s rare for a film to trigger me and when it happens it is unpredictable because it’s not linked to general intensity but to specific details.
60% of the way through Lord of the Flies and the boys are still cooperating pretty well. They tried their best.
