I’m so shocked to hear that Marjane Satrapi has died. What awful news. She has been one of my greatest inspirations since I read Persepolis as a kid.
Thank you for everything you shared with us Marjane. Your work was loud and poignant and beautiful, and it’s haunted me for many years.

the mo'olelo of the naupaka flower - the plant grows by the seashore and on the high mountains in Hawai'i. the unique thing about it is that it looks like the flower is missing half of it's petals
