Deaftronics manufactured the first solar-powered hearing aid unit called Solar Ear. In direct sunlight, the solar charger is able to charge three batteries simultaneously, in only two to three hours. The batteries last a week, have a lifespan between two to three years, and are versatile.

BrailleRAP is an open source DIY Braille embosser. Derived from a 3d printer controller and a bunch of 3d printed parts, BrailleRAP can emboss Braille text in a lot of languages and even emboss vector graphics to build tangible documents like maps, board games, and art representation.
