A Doctor Who fan from the tender age of nine, my first Doctor was Tom Baker (and I have the long scarf to prove it!) I like New Who and the classics as well as classic cars and classic rock. Geek by profession and by choice, happily married and never ready for Winter.

Tops & Bottoms Tens - Joe Tops the New Series
Step back in time with Battles in Time’s new First Doctor era cards! The Doctor said one day he’d come back. Yes, he said he’d come back. He’s been quoted on that more than ever this past week, so it’s appropriate the OG Doctor really is returning as Master Replicas’ Battles in Time collectible card game launches into the William Hartnell era of Doctor Who with its next set. This is the first in a new line of limited-edition collector’s cards focusing on the individual Doctors, their companions and their greatest foes. Each set of 15 cards comes in a special collector’s pack that is guaranteed to contain every card. Even better, for the first time ever, Battles in Time will feature classic companions Ian, Barbara and Susan and memorable monsters such as Koquillion and the Monoids. The selection covers the entire span of the Hartnell era, from An Unearthly Child to The Tenth Planet, with stops on Skaro, the Ark, and the Sense-sphere along the way. The First Doctor cards are printed in the original black and white on silver foil, in strictly limited-edition sets of 1,000 pieces worldwide. The 15 Cards in the First Doctor set are: The First Doctor TARDIS (at Totter’s Yard) Ian Chesterton (at Totter’s Yard) Barbara Wright Susan Foreman Skaro City Dalek The Daleks (Invading Earth) The Daleks Execution Squad The Cybermen (Invading Snowcap Base) Zarbi Koquillion The Monoids War Machines (Outside The Post Office Tower) Sensorite (Aboard Maitland’s Ship) The Toymaker Master Replicas’ Creative Director talks to Blogtor Who about the new cards Talking exclusively to Blogtor Who, Master Replicas’ Creative Director, Ben Robinson, explained some of the design decisions with the set, including the use of the original 1960s black and white photography. “We wanted the classic Doctor cards to reflect the era when the stories were made,” explains Robinson. “To me, Hartnell and Troughton exist in black and white (although that first Doctor Who annual was in colour…) We knew from experience that printing on foil could be very effective and that’s really true for these cards. Koquillion, in particular, is so dramatic. Classic Daleks just look right in monochrome and the original Cybermen are mostly white and silver. “That brings up another thing: We did a bit of research that showed the original Cyberman costumes were quite strange colours. If you colourised them, what would you choose? Do you them the colour they actually were on set? Because that’s not the colour their creators meant them to be. “ Master Replicas are also seizing the opportunity to explore these classic characters and creatures, saying “When we did the original Battles in Time cards, we didn’t do any classic companions, so that was one of the first things on our agenda. In fact, we only did Doctors if they appeared on the modern show, so this was a real chance to dig into something we hadn’t done before. We had done some classic monsters, but only when there was colour photography or in those rare instances where it didn’t matter. “Doing new cards in black and white opened up all sorts of options we hadn’t had before (and I can never resist a Monoid).” Battles in Time sets, including the First Doctor, can be ordered from www.masterreplicas.com The newsets, including the First Doctor, can be ordered from Like this: Like Loading…

The Light in the Hall cast: Who stars in season 2 of the Channel 4 Welsh thriller?
The Sixth Doctor! Colin Baker joins Rufus Hound and Gemma Whelan for the finale of Dark Gallifrey: The Meddling Monks, available now. Two incarnations of the same Time Lord living together in middle England. What could possibly go wrong? It’s time for the season finale of the fabulously funny sitcom everyone’s talking about, The Meddling Monks. But is it really a sitcom, or is something much darker going on? The Monk (Rufus Hound) and the Nun (Gemma Whelan) have started to notice that the world they’re living in isn’t quite right. To get to the bottom of things, they’ve called in help from a very special guest star – the Sixth Doctor (Colin Baker)! The Doctor sets out to help the Monks answer their many questions... How did they get to this strange world? How can they escape? And why is the mysterious John (John Finnemore) so insistent on everyone being funny? Dark Gallifrey: The Meddling Monks – Part Three is now available to purchase for just £8.99 (digital download to own) or £10.99 (download to own + single-disc collector’s edition CD), exclusively here. Please note: the collector’s edition CD is strictly limited to 1,000 copies and will not be re-pressed. The two full-cast audio episodes bringing the Monks’ story to a close are: Monky Puzzle An international jigsaw competition has come to town. Do the Monk and the Nun have time to compete before the arrival of a very special guest? There’s only one way to find out. What could possibly go wrong? Monky About What’s it all about? Well, it’s a Big Finish finale so there’s bound to be explosions and chases, with perhaps a starry cameo and a threat to all life on Earth. What could possibly go wrong? Dark Gallifrey: The Meddling Monks – Part Three guest stars the BBC Radio 4 comedy collaborators John Finnemore, Carrie Quinlan, and Simon Kane as the odd selection of characters known as John, Carrie and Simon, as well as Becky Wright as Becky. On making his Dark Gallifrey debut, Colin Baker said: “The script read like enormous fun, and it was! It’s quite rare for the Doctor to be involved in something so fanciful. One can dive in and luxuriate in the sheer pantomimic. “Working with Rufus and Gemma has been lovely. I am so old, I remember the original Meddling Monk, Peter Butterworth, so for me, he is a very familiar, warm, inviting character. It’s lovely to have him back, and Rufus and Gemma do it with great joy and brio.” Director Jonathan S Powell added: “Colin is in many ways my Doctor. I’ve done oodles of stories with Colin and I was delighted to see that he was the Doctor here – because he’s the radio Doctor, he’s the one who you want to appear in this story. I love working with Colin because he cares so much, he reads the scripts so thoroughly, he’s properly engaged. “And there’s a certain level to his comedy, where he does think he’s funnier than he is, but he’s also quite serious. He’s quite uppity and forthright and righteous. He’s the perfect Doctor to arrive in this world. The script describes him as the Doctor who doesn’t have any time for this sort of nonsense, and that is exactly what we need at this point in this story!” Praise for Dark Gallifrey: The Meddling Monks – Part Two: “John Dorney plays with some intriguing and frightening high-concept ideas that require all elements of the production to move together, and they do so beautifully.” Doctor Who Magazine “This instalment belonged to Rufus Hound and Gemma Whelan. Their chemistry and comedic timing were incredible throughout.” Sci-Fi Pulse “Absolutely superb, magical and impressive stuff. I just love it.” Tin Dog Podcast Big Finish listeners can pre-order all three instalments of the Meddling Monks trilogy in a multibuy bundle for just £24 (download to own) or £30 (download to own + collector’s edition CD). Alternatively, a bundle comprising all six of 2026’s Dark Gallifrey instalments – which includes the Meddling Monks trilogy as well as a second trilogy, starring starring the Decayed Master – for just £50 (download to own) or £60 (download to own + collector’s edition CD). Other bundles are available: the complete Dark Gallifrey pre-order bundle, including all eight trilogies, each following a different renegade Time Lord, is just £188 (download to own). Candy Jar Books has announced a special novel in its successful Lucy Wilson range, The Three Lucys – due out later this month, and written by me! The Lucy Wilson Adventures features the granddaughter of Doctor Who legend, Brigadier Lethbridge-Stewart, as she battles alien invaders alongside her best friend, Hobo. While The Three Lucys is the landmark 30th book in the popular series, it’s designed to welcome readers new and old alike. And it’s perfect for Doctor Who fans, who will immediately recognise the title’s allusion to Who’s 10th anniversary special, The Three Doctors. It also happens to be my first young adult novel! The book is released later this month, on 25th June 2026, to celebrate Candy Jar Books’ 15th anniversary. In The Three Lucys, Lucy Wilson meets two other versions of herself: one, a middle-aged professor who is fleeing mysterious ‘chaos’ that’s unravelling time and space; and the other, a young girl held captive at a sinister military instillation. Beyond the title, there are plenty of Doctor Who Easter eggs inside. Shaun Russell, the Head of Publishing at Candy Jar, approached me to write a Lucy that pays homage to The Three Doctors – hugely exciting not just because it’s to celebrate a big anniversary but also as it’s my first full Lucy Wilson novel – so I mapped out my idea against the plot of that serial, taking inspiration from its villain and his antimatter world. I sprinkled references to Who throughout: most notably, the majority of the chapter titles come from the Target novelisation of The Three Doctors, albeit giving a few a uniquely ‘Lucy’ twist. I’m especially proud of refashioning ‘A Shock for the Brigadier’ – a character who doesn’t appear in The Three Lucys, but is certainly there in spirit. It was quite a challenge, but a hugely fun one. Anyone who read 100 Things That Happened on Easter Island and The Green Dog will already have met Professor Lucy Wilson; now, fans can find out more about Lucy-in-the-future and the ‘chaos’ she’s running from… The Three Lucys will be released at the same time as Paul Wines’ The Games Master, a book initially only available at the Barry Card and Collector Con 2026. Here’s the blurb for The Three Lucys: ‘Me don’t know what’s happening.’ One day, Lucy Wilson wakes up and suddenly can’t say the word ‘I.’ Its whole meaning starts to dissolve in her head, and soon, it spreads. She can’t recall what day comes after Thursday. She doesn’t know what that lesson with all the numbers is called. How soon before she loses the names of her own parents? Or her best friend, Hobo? And she’s not the only one. Or maybe she is. Because someone is stealing the words of numerous Lucy Wilsons, across time and space. One is a middle-aged professor. One is a rebellious teen who has run away from home. And one is our Lucy: pulled out of her universe; running out of words; running out of hope. The Lucy Wilson Mysteries: The Three Lucys is available to pre-order now from Candy Jar Books and all good bookshops, and will be released on 25th June 2026. Like this: Like Loading...

Ahsoka season 2 is mere months away from Disney+, with Star Wars fans hoping it can help propel the franchise back to its prosperous heights after a disappointing return to cinemas. The Mandalorian and Grogu arrived in May to lukewarm reviews from critics, and steep drops at the global box office, leading to fears that the long-running sci-fi franchise might be in a spot of trouble. Ahsoka proved to be one of the brighter spots in its Disney+ era, attracting huge viewership to the streaming platform as Rosario Dawson was finally given centre stage as the fan-favourite Jedi character. Little has been revealed about the plot of season 2, but we can expect to see more from Lars Mikkelsen's sinister villain Grand Admiral Thrawn and his sworn nemesis Ezra Bridger (played by Eman Esfandi). If you're excited for the long-awaited Ahsoka season 2 finale, read on for everything we know about the new episodes so far. Ahsoka season 2 release date speculation Ahsoka season 2 does not yet have a confirmed release date, but Disney did reveal at its upfront presentation that the show will return in early 2027. It's been a long wait for Star Wars fans left eager to know what Lucasfilm head Dave Filoni has in store for one of his most iconic creations, but it's heartening to know that we're through the bulk of it. Ahsoka season 2 cast: Who could return? Ahsoka season 2 sees Rosario Dawson reprise the title role of Clone Wars-era Padawan turned New Republic-era Jedi Master Ahsoka Tano. The actor is a firm favourite of genre fans, owing to her turn as Claire Temple in the Marvel Cinematic Universe shows Daredevil and Luke Cage, plus other notable credits including Clerks, Sin City and Death Proof. Eman Esfandi will be adding some extra Jedi star-power as Rebels protagonist Ezra Bridger, who will reportedly have an expanded role in season 2 (after being missing for much of the first). Natasha Liu Bordizzo (Sabine), Mary Elizabeth Winstead (Hera), Ivanna Sakhno (Shin Hati), Hayden Christensen (Anakin Skywalker) and Lars Mikkelsen (Grand Admiral Thrawn) will also reprise their roles in the upcoming episodes. Of course, one person who could not return is Ray Stevenson as fallen Jedi Baylan Skoll. Sadly, the talented actor passed away unexpectedly in May 2023, aged only 58. The first episode of Ahsoka was dedicated to him. Stevenson has been replaced by Scottish actor Rory McCann, who is best known for playing The Hound in HBO series Game of Thrones. He joins fellow Scot and Doctor Who legend David Tennant as the voice of friendly droid, Huyang. Season 1 co-star Claudia Black announced herself to be another notable departure from Ahsoka in June 2026, citing a pay dispute as the reason why she chose not to reprise the role of Nightsister Klothow. Meanwhile, Obi-Wan Kenobi actor Ewan McGregor ruled himself out of appearing, amid speculation arising from his real-life marriage to Winstead, with the actor revealing he was on childcare duty while she went back to her Twi'lek persona. "I'm at home with our son, who's four, and I take him to school and everything. And then I'm bumbling around the house, and I'd fetch a FaceTime," he shared (via Collider). "I forget that she's going to be green, you know?" Here is a list of the Ahsoka cast members we expect to see more from in season 2: Rosario Dawson as Ahsoka Tano Natasha Liu Bordizzo as Sabine Wren Mary Elizabeth Winstead as Hera Syndulla Ivanna Sakhno as Shin Hati Eman Esfandi as Ezra Bridger Hayden Christensen as Anakin Skywalker Lars Mikkelsen as Grand Admiral Thrawn Rory McCann as Baylan Skoll David Tennant as Huyang Jeryl Prescott Gallien as Aktropaw Jane Edwina Seymour as Lakesis Is there an Ahsoka season 2 trailer? Doctor Who star Peter Capaldi has shared some hopeful words on the future of the sci-fi show following the news that the planned Christmas special has been cancelled. Last week, the BBC announced the decision to pull the plug on the festive episode as the show has been put out for competitive tender. The Criminal Record star played the Twelfth Doctor for three seasons of the show airing between 2014 and 2017 and showrun by Steven Moffat. Speaking with Digital Spy, Capaldi weighed in on Russell T Davies' exit as showrunner, assuring that the show "will be the same but different" once it returns. "Doctor Who has been great to Russell, and it has been great to everybody who's worked any of it and it will continue to be great. It's not going anywhere," Capaldi said. BBC Related: Best streaming services "Maybe it will disappear for a while in time and space, that's what the Doctor does." The latest episode of Doctor Who aired in May last year and saw Ncuti Gatwa's Fifteenth regenerate into an unnamed character played by Billie Piper, who previously portrayed Rose Tyler. It seems no one truly leaves Doctor Who as the show could bring back more past actors — whenever it returns to our screens, that is. What to Read Next "You can never say never," Capaldi agreed about a possible return to Doctor Who. He continued: "You never know what happens in the future, anything can happen in the future, [Capaldi's Doctor] can do that, he can't do it. You just never know in the universe, and if he's going to do that, he can do that." Simon Ridgway // BBC Moffat also recently addressed the Christmas special cancellation, though he was adamant that the show would "very definitely" return. "I don't like the fact there's not gonna be a Christmas special. There should always be a Christmas special," he told the audience at the Utopia fan convention. "There's not going to be that, but the show will return. Very, very definitely." Doctor Who airs on BBC One in the UK, with classic episodes available via BBC iPlayer.
