Shout out to the random makers who say things like "you can use it for free just credit me after"
… excuse me?
I get attribution for music, footage, promotional versions of apps, etc.
But assets usually aren't practical to credit. Am I expected to include them alongside stuff? Like a receipt?
I also want to slap some sense into people for how they define "free"
Personal Use means nobody is making money. You're basically saying you won't sue me for using it on the family Christmas card
Thanks?
That's expected. Otherwise why release it? Are all these random sites… PIRATING SOFTWARE?!? 😨
If you double-dip and use the same resources to make multiple things, I get it
But like, complete the first font before you wet your beak, ok?
"This Is an Original Font" and "Obviously the Same Font but It’s More Complete or Different" is just trying to game the odds and not appreciated
Explains why so many of his listings focus on texture and styling effects. That's stuff he can tweak in settings
But nobody wants that done on the font level (at least not on standard black and white fonts)
Changing anything requires work on the user's end where they'd have had more flexibility
Know what I love? Visiting sites and it's virtually impossible to get to the thing I came there for
It's like trying to find the recipe amongst a blogger's life story, but for typefaces!
Bonus if they jumble free and premium together. It's only money 🤑 But could they all be affiliate links, too? 🤔
Try as I might to not become a person with "opinions" on fonts, I can't realistically scroll through all these listings without random snark, so have a thread 🧵
Top of my mind: why do so many not include periods?
So I'm supposed to use wild lettering but then all the punctuation is Helvetica 👌
Realized one guy was probably using 3D models to make different variations, which is an interesting process and totally fine!
Then I saw "Same Font but This One I Added a Stroke"
