Never underestimate how good the hard left are at self sabotage
I agree there have been charities/quangos and individuals riding a gravy train since 2014 reforms piloted. I raised this at MP event locally. Why would parents trust organisations that oversaw 12 years failed outcomes? Many of us said at the time the money should go on frontline provision instead.
These were not raised during consultations before the WP - I attended every online one and one in person and the changes to legal duties for EHCP and tribunals were never mentioned then either. Presumably as these need changes to legislation there will be an opportunity when the draft bill issued?
Burnham would have lost.
Gaza isn’t just issue Muslim voters care about, the young graduate and student vote do too. The Greens were lucky Your Party didn’t stand but young adults aren’t coming back to Labour anytime soon. My 20’s kids still follow news on Gaza even if mainstream isn’t doing so.
I knew they would lose in a Muslim / student area because of Gaza. Streeting and Lammy also vulnerable to losing their seats. For young people Gaza is their Iraq. And the student loan sharking hasn’t helped.
Is this end legal right to have all your Sen met regardless of cost? Are we now looking at rationing by capped preset packages even if some needs unmet? Also worried about the pincer effect of tribunals unable name settings and parents needing permission to home educate if not agree council choice
With all focus on m/s v special what is being missed is the removal of the right of a child to have every one of their special educational needs met regardless cost. This has existed since at least 1996 but now subject caps/bands/set packages. Why are disability charities not up in arms about this?

Legal restrictions and cost capping complex needs really worrying. No mention personal budgets or direct payments. Parent choice ltd to preset list settings and packages capped by national banding. It’s opening door to warehousing complex needs in poor quality provision with no legal route challenge
I agree this allows councils to find a building and offer 7 cost capped national banded packages and just warehouse all the complex expensive kids in poor quality provision. Tribunal can’t name alternative, not clear if can have direct payment. Legal routes shut off to challenge.
