I want to emphasize this because it’s trans history. In the 80s and 90s a lot of trucking companies paid well and covered transition care. There were a lot of trans women that took jobs as truckers, transitioned, and quietly disappeared into their lives. Nothing white collar about it.

There are a seemingly disproportionate number of trans women in tech because that industry pays well and has generally been decent about people transitioning. In the 90s it was trucking, not tech. If other industries followed suit you’d see a whole lot of trans women in other roles.
