ELF RING A circle of mushrooms known as an 'elf ring' from Kate Greenaway 1905. The girl is tentatively stepping into the elf ring wherein she could be transported to the otherworld, or be made to dance by fairies until she dies of exhaustion!

From 1875 a light vessel was established on the sandbank near Eastbourne. It was the first of its kind to display a flashing light. It was nearly a century later, and after a succession of ships, until the Royal Sovereign Lighthouse came into operation in September 1971. #Bexhill
