Trump, Biden, and then Trump have all treated Israel like an actual appendage of the United States which ipso facto has the exact same interests and goals as the United Stated and the end result of this has been the gradual decline of American power projection in the region and a regional quagmire.
The absence of great power competition and the complete and total degradation of the ideological coherence of our two major parties in the United States has made it basically impossible for any president today to say something as simple as this regarding Israel, which is really bad.
