Watching Ozu’s “An Autumn Afternoon” for the thousandth time. The most unexpectedly beautiful opening scene in a movie ever. It’s only the view of a mundane factory but Ozu’s framing and the use of AgfaColor stock makes it outstandingly lovely. #小津安二郎 #秋刀魚の味
Every time I watch one of Ozu’s movies I’m utterly spellbound at how brilliant his shot framing is. It’s so beautiful I never tire of it. Often it moves me to tears.
A very good condition copy of this 1962 Classic (this printing from 1964).
Not that I care, but if England win I will eat my hat.
