It is these experiences that led her to become a Moms Demand Action volunteer. “If anyone cares about positively impacting their communities and the future, Moms is a fantastic way to effect change.”
Today, we continue Melissa’s legacy of working towards peace and safety for all of us. In honor of Melissa and Mark, we fight to end gun violence and ensure that no one else will be forced to experience their loved ones’ pain.

Melissa was a dedicated lawmaker, mother, and community member who made gun violence prevention a top priority from her first day at the Capitol. For years, she worked alongside our Minnesota volunteers and Students Demand Action leaders to protect Minnesotans from gun violence.
Daisy, a Virginia Moms Demand Action volunteer and identifies as a gun violence survivor several times over. Born and raised in Colombia, she has seen the impact that trafficked guns from the United States have had on her home country.
