One of the restaurants in my area that was raided by ICE a few days ago put up a Gofundme to scrape together the money for legal fees to hire legal representation. I hope they get to come home soon.
I've been getting feeling a bit bummed tbh from how corporate a lot of larger conventions/shows have gotten in recent years. That's why it really makes me so happy there's a lot of smaller, local, community focused events in my area throughout the year, and more keep popping up too.
There's very few larger events around me that still stick to the grassroots energy of conventions but man, it's so needed. So I'm just insanely grateful for the current bustling communities around me.
