Gross alpha is bad. The WHO recommends a screening guideline of 0.5 becquerels per liter (Bq/L) for gross alpha activity in drinking water. Because the WHO uses the metric SI unit (Becquerels) rather than picocuries (pCi), this translates to approximately 13.5 pCi/L. Much lower than our 18.0 pCi/L
