New hand-built ceramic piece, with bamboo and leather; mathematically, a Hopf link with Seifert surface. www.mathartfun.com/robertfathau...
I've been exploring this family of patterns. These are torus knots/links with 3n crossings (for n = 0,..., 5) on odd-sized Rubik's cubes from 3 layers through 13 layers. I tried to make the colors exactly the same, but the even links forced me to use edges from the r/w/b half of the cube.

If you are an #AssistantProfessor or #Postdoc and are interested in applying for a #Veni grant, join us for these events to hear from awardees and reviewers. We will have dedicated sessions for all domains of NWO and ZonMw.
Some great #illustratingMath in the making, wish I could be there.
This absolutely resonates with my experience. I'm three years into my (supposedly) eight year Academic Career Track, with a midterm next year and I have absolutely no clear grasp as to what's expected of me (except, more, of course). #AcademicSky
Currently listening to @aproblemsquared.bsky.social, episode 133, which already does a great job at #illustratingMath. But this episode has a shout-out to @mathgrrl.com and the #illustratingMath exhibition at the Maison Poincaré! Give it a listen and if you're in Paris, visit the exhibit!
On Friday, June 12, we'll have the next #illustratingMath seminar online, taking us "From Fractions to Fractals". Alexander Thomas will give the main talk, flanked by Show & Ask of Juliet Fiss and Caroline Davis. We start at 9am Pacific/12pm EST/6pm Europe. See you then!
