i would have been saved ten years of pointless suffering and a lifetime of lingering trauma if anyone at any point had explained to me that trans people exist and that you can be one of them. lying about biological reality (trans people = exist) on such a scale is unfathomably cruel and it KILLS.
we should actually teach minors that trans people exist and that you might be one and that even if you aren't, you still don't have to be 100% the gender you were assigned at birth. there is no "right time" to broach the subject with young people, unless that time is "as soon as possible"
