It is IMO a dick move to continue insisting that online anonymity be removed in an era where it’s been very clear since the late 2010s that malicious actors in politics and media routinely target members of the public for exemplary punishment bearings, trying to get them sacked from their jobs.
This is a disturbingly common belief among Baby Boomers and Gen X - The idea that coming out as gay or trans is somehow "betraying" and "hurting" them and how they need time to grieve.
