THAT person had plenty of chances. A helping hand was extended to her time and again. She just wasn’t ready to take that step.
She shared her pain once. She wasn’t able to handle the relationship that resulted from that. It’s too heavy a burden.
And that only irreversibly hurt the person that wanted to help. That kind of emotional pain and burden makes it incompatible with “hey, I’m here for you.”
It’s so realistic—I’ve seen it so many times in therapy that it genuinely hurt me.
