Fascism decides whose lives matter and whose do not.
It criminalises difference and teaches exclusion.
Since years we have witnessed growing attacks on people on the move, refugees and those who show solidarity.
The result of all of these policies is an estimate between 100,000 and 200,000 deaths in the last 10 years.

On the day the EU Migration Pact enters fully into force, we remind ourselves that people cross this way because every other way has been shut down. Almost every legal route, every door closed. EU governments and the EU Commission focus on building up borders, making safe migration impossible.

We want a world where no one has to survive deadly borders to reach safety. Where the closest port is always the right port. Where movement needs no justification. Where safety is not rationed by passport or by skin.
Freedom of movement for all!

Borders do not affect everyone equally.
Women, queer and trans people often face specific forms of violence during migration.
Gender-based violence is used as a weapon in conflicts, displacement and border regimes.
We believe in freedom of movement and bodily autonomy for everyone.
55 people disembarked
Yesterday the Louise Michel assisted 55 people from a rubber boat. Only because the weather was going to get worse we were assigned Lampedusa, the closest place of safety.
Everyone is now on land, can rest and gather strength for the next steps of their journey.

In 6 years of work, the Louise Michel supported 3568 people in distress.
Behind every number is a person.
Behind every operation is a collective effort to defend dignity and freedom of movement.
The need for independent rescue has not disappeared.
