Nothing like hitting the five thousand screenshot mark to make you realize the depths of your own madness
And now, they don't even bother maintaining the pretense of being actual Park Service staff, so the vicarious thrill of following a supposed inside man is gone.
They've moved beyond the need for the LARP, and have fully embraced just becoming one of the Krassensteins.
The Alt National Park Service does not report the news. Journalists, like Scott Wong and Kyle Stewart at NBC, report the news.
What AltNPS does is take the work of journalists and use it to try to become a "news source" themselves.

This is good, but it drives me crazy when AltNPS presents the news as though they're in the House chambers, reporting live.
AltNPS isn't reporting this news. They're seeing the news from real outlets and reposting it, while pretending to be a news source themselves.
ME: Ugh, my phone's out of storage space.
WIFE: Why?
ME: Uhhhhhhh
I'm a little behind on tracking AltNPS! We've had a couple of family health scares (everyone's fine, don't worry) and I've had to keep my focus on IRL stuff.
I should be back in action before long, just might slow down for a bit. In the meantime, here's everyone's favorite Resistance Coalition.
This really gets at the absurdity of the Alt National Park Service as a concept. Why are park rangers taking it upon themselves to be an all-purpose news aggregator? If they're just reposting headlines, why do they need to be anonymous? Why do ANY of this?
Surely AltNPS saw this because they're dutiful observers of local DC-area court decisions, and not because they saw @zschonfeld.bsky.social's article in the Hill from six hours ago.

If you're wondering why AltNPS talks about random political headlines way more than they talk about the actual National Parks, it's because talking about the parks gets them a fraction of the engagement.
