Just like, Kansan grandmas dancing with Algerian moms and you know both of them are going to carry it with them for a long time and, boom, like that, the world gets a little bit smaller and friendlier. Kids learning the rest of the world isn’t scary. It’s just unreal and powerful.
I think one of the antidotes to this national dread is just watching one video after another of friendly and excited Americans welcoming people for the World Cup. There’s not a one of them that isn’t tear-inducing.
A good reminder of what this country should and could feel like.
I’m a hoosier and I’ve watched Anunoby his entire career. I’m so happy for him. I’m so damn happy for that man. Holy shit.
It’s wild to watch a dude from his freshman year in college and be like, hey, I think this guy has something, and then watch him win a pivotal Finals game after contributing. Oh my god. I’m old. Life can be sweet.
