Cameron - a *profoundly* silly, glib man - went against every bit of that. To leave the EPP and join the ECR was to cross the firewall and ally with those outside.
It pandered to the smash-it-up ideologues. And it normalised listening to the maniac tendency. The worst kind of experiment.
I have to say, listening to the Today programme dedicate an entire (context free) section about whether migrants are more likely to be convicted criminals *the morning after* hundreds of non-migrants of my own ethnicity committed a pogrom is blood boiling.
