My article on the tv hit Succession and its media reception finally out. Keywords Schadenfreude, fantasy, dynasties. My argument being that it is a fantasy-driven construct appealing to a middle class desire to see the rich as miserable people destined to fall. www.tandfonline.com/doi/full/10....
While 23% of the rich are entirely invisible, a small minority accounts for the lion's share of press attention, including several media owners. Further, owners of wealth originating in the interwar and National Socialist period are less likely to appear than those with older or younger fortunes.

This absence limits the extent to which wealth concentration, its origins, its structure, and its beneficiaries become topics of public concern. The selective omission of individuals and forms of wealth may shape which aspects of inequality are publicly debated and which remain largely unchallenged.
