I’m working on my first real fantasy, and while it’s terrific fun, I continually bump up against the economics of such a place. Just how did that castle situated impossibly on the edge of a cliff get built? Who paid for it? Who maintains it? Who feeds the workers that maintain it? So many questions.
This is why I chose to stick close to the woods, even at great cost to my filmmaking career and other opportunities. There is no five day work week in the woods. There are no “talking points” among the trees. There is pure life and pure death, and several lifetimes’ worth of knowledge to learn.
