The Minister is right his plan is, in fact, working.
In loosing the rent controls the plan was to increase rents. That was the purpose of the new rules.
The government insist that rents must increase to encourage supply, but one way or another the plan was always that you would pay more rent.
This is horrific. Due to the incompetence and inattention of prison staff a man died a horrible, lonely and very preventable death.
But as ever, the traditional public service refrain after the tragedy, lessons have been learned.
