I’m Florida sober (haven’t smoked meth with an alligator outside of a gas station I just robbed in 64 days)
These people are utterly delusional
- public transport is a better option for commuting for a good chunk of Sydneysiders. It's really not that bad.
- walk the kids to school if it's under 1km for young kids, under 2km for older kids (if they're able)
So many folks have no idea a good chunk of their car trips are easily walkable.
I was asked to go on the radio the other day to talk about fuel-saving tips. I couldn't make it so here's what I was going to say.
If you're physically able:
- stop doing short trips, that's where most of your fuel goes
- plan your days better so you're not in and out
TL;DR the best way to save fuel is not use it, it's not a tricky concept.
Most importantly, leave the fuel for those who genuinely need it. I have to go to the city this week, I'll take the train all the way because I don't *need* to drive to Sydenham first.
Station wagons are inherently superior to every other kind of car.
