2/4 As Melanie points out “Settlements and violent settlers devastate the chance of peace and a two-state solution. This is their purpose.” The UK considers settlements to be illegal and there is no reason for British charities to be funding settlements.
We welcome today’s announcement that the UK government will be taking action, including sanctions, on settler violence.
We urge the government to continue working with international allies to stop ongoing annexation and to ensure a political resolution remains possible.
1/ Horrific news of a stabbing in Golders Green, which follows a series of violent attacks on the Jewish community in recent months.
We pray for the recovery of those injured.
Our community is understandably afraid. We need actions to ensure Jewish people are safe & feel safe.
3/4 Charitable donations are subject to tax relief, meaning the British taxpayer ends up paying the price for settlement activity in direct contravention of the UK’s foreign policy.
1/4 Incredibly important by
@melanie_ward showing over recent years 32 UK registered charities have sent £28 million to illegal West Bank settlements.
Yesterday the UK gov said it would meet with the Charity Commission to discuss. But this should be just the beginning.

2/ Too many Jews in the UK are second guessing if it’s safe to go to synagogue, wear Jewish garments or attend communal events.
We’re grateful to the police and orgs such as Shomrim &
CST.
We need allies to stand with British Jews. Everyone should have the right to safety.
