A M6.2 earthquake below southern Italy is a reminder of the subduction zone lurking beneath the Tyrrhenian Sea. At 250 km depth, this is not one of Italy’s dangerous earthquakes. But it did lead us to a *totally normal* conceptual model for the wildly complicated tectonics of the Mediterranean!
