The Far Right riot in Belfast last night was nothing less than “a race-based pogrom”, Belfast MP and leader of the SDLP Claire Hanna said.
The mob hunted down non-whites and set fire to their homes.
Carl Whyte, a local councillor, called it “a hard Far Right element”.
"A pastor at the scene where multiple houses were on fire said people were being put out of houses "because they're black".
In another scene, 100 masked men made their way down a street & kicked in doors & broke windows. They said they were "getting the foreigners out""

Interesting opportunity for climate types! @marchudson.bsky.social is great to work with and I have found the newsletters fascinating/maddening.

I used to like the “quiet riot” podcast, albeit warily and wearily for its shallow centrism. Won’t listen anymore - they are lazy laundering the Labour Together rebrand (“ThinkLabour”). Fuck that shit, as the kids used to say
@cavu4ever.bsky.social you might be interested in my climate histories project - @allouryesterdays.bsky.social

The WFP says 363 million people around the world are now at risk of acute hunger, 45 million of them as a result of conflict in the Middle East and the consequent oil price spike. Continue reading...
