The NYT-Siena poll is useful in showing Democrats understand where the party's image is weakest. They're most likely to say the party should move to the center on crime and immigration - these are the two issues where Republicans still lead even at Trump's nadir (poll links in a reply)

Like everyone always, I see this as more evidence for the thing I already believed, which is that voting is mostly based on vibes so politicians should focus on (1) being likable and then (2) pursuing the policies they actually believe in
