there's something to be said about reclamation, of course, but i've so often seen the term used in such a degrading and purely fetishistic way that the term itself is usually a huge red flag for me
that said, i've seen the term f*ta be considered to be offensive and/or a slur by a lot of trans women considering the way it's used to treat trans women as a porn category by othering & fetishizing them (not its only use, but a common impact of the term and the way it's used)
