#FindsFriday #RomanBritain #RomanArchaeology @pcaarchaeology.bsky.social keep bringing it at Boulton Moor - here's a nice intact Roman pot from a well or watering hole. Let's hope that trowel doesn't slip. And a hammered silver penny (Edward I or II) just to spoil the Roman vibe!
It's been in the pipeline for ages, so it was amazing to finally get the 1st phase of this project going! 2 days of geophysics at Chaddesden Park, Derby. Huge thanks to Colin & Andrés (Sheffield Uni), the AOC team, and the DAS volunteers. Hopefully this leads to phase 2 >⛏️ #Derbyshire #Archaeology

#FindsFriday And a Roman silver denarius (Hadrian, we think) ... #Derbyshire #Archaeology
#FindsFriday To cheer us up after that Roman road disappointment, Boulton Moor is heaving with Roman goodies. A dense area of Roman rural activity with possible Iron Age origins and a good opportunity to investigate the interface. Here's a lovely mortarium base fresh out of the ground.

It was made by a Roman glassmaker c2nd century CE, probably strung with other beads to form a necklace or pendant
#FindsFriday And there's more - a blue glass 'melon' bead so freshly dug it's still covered in clart! #Derbyshire #Archaeology
#FindsFriday More Roman gubbins from Boulton Moor, a lovely little pottery flask (perfume bottle?) that emerged intact last week #Derbyshire #Archaeology
