Waaait the fact that specifically all the other Mars in the last panel become sketchy after Achilles visualizes the real Mars. His visualization of her actuality makes all the other duplicate concepts pale in comparison to who she really is!!
God I love love love that she doesn't have a mouth in that third panel. There's something about that that just like. Lights up the neurones in my brain.
Something about her look being literally wordless, about the idea that the perfect version of her doesn't need to say anything at all
Making something will always feel like this. I will watch this scene a hundred times until I'm old and understand exactly how she feels. I will never make something that was as good as it could have been. I will cry and then go back to making my doomed and imperfect art. What else can an artist do?
What I love about this scene is she knew he was going to support her no matter what she wrote, but she knew she would cry no matter what he said. He knew she would cry no matter what he said, and he knew he would support her when she did. It’s all predetermined and all still meaningful.
