Because I don't have to do much assembly I can really sink energy into some extras that will really make the tank shine, like textures, metal pieces, and scratch built and kit-bash add-ons. This tank is a real vehicle (in service in Malaysia!) but I'm going to do it as a what-if.
I like playing with three levels of height. The jeep, the haus and the tank will all be on different "levels" of this mountain village, but the size of the project already is a bit staggering. It's about as compact as I can make it without it appearing too crowded. Lots to think on, for sure!
Committed to the bit, now, folks!

So here it is, the first sketch of my next project. It's going to be a mammoth undertaking with the UAz 469 and trailer, the T-55, and a large house. Good thing I stocked up on VMS Smart Mud!
Blocking out a potential scene... 😏

#histscalemodels, what do you do when a figure won't sit cleanly in a vehicle? Give up? Extensive surgery? Not in today's modern age! You just design a new seat and contour the cushions to you figure and there you have it!
So, #histscalemodels, the 3D printed tank is out of the supports and cured. This is the... third? time I've printed it due to needing to nail down my exposure settings, but it's not half bad! At just over $25 it's on par with one of Trumpeter's offerings. There's a trade off...
Belated glamor shots of the AMX-30 diorama.
What do we think, #histscalemodels? Pre-painted kits certainly have a market in those who don't have the time, space, or dexterity for painting. As one comment I saw put it, this could be the next natural evolution after snap-together kits, providing a stepping stone for towards traditional models.
