45 years ago today, ‘RAIDERS OF THE LOST ARK’ released in theaters.
"Thank you for the best day of my life."
"...YOU'RE WELCOME."
Best ending ever.
Feel like there’s an essay to be written about the influence of just the door kill alone on the next decade of gruesome punchlines to action scenes.
Is it fair to describe THE RAID as the birth of 'action-horror' as a subgenre? You've obviously got your mashups like PREDATOR or FROM DUSK TIL DAWN, where horror bushwhacks an action/thriller, but THE RAID is a straight action story elevated into horror sphere through aesthetics/tone/pace/gore.
One of the (many) reasons this show is so good is because the horror is fully frightening and the comedy is fully hilarious. It’s like if HALLOWEEN were set in Pawnee
Can someone confirm that the only version of THE FURIOUS in theaters is the dub? Can you also confirm that the movie is...you know...'watchable' in that form?
I have no desire to ever be in a real fight, and in fact the idea of causing harm to another person makes me actually sick, so please understand what I mean when I say that THE RAID makes me want to punch someone/something SO. BAD.
Also extremely happy to have the 4K remaster that removes that ugly blue filter and instead gives the movie a nice rich texture and shading more in line with everything else Gareth Edwards has made.
I know Calvin’s dad is already having a moment, but every terrible “outsource precious and fleeting moments with your children to tech so that you can spend more time on your work” pitch makes me think of that one strip I never really cared about as a kid, but care a lot about as an adult.
