Congratulations to Melanie Ohi for this very well-deserved recognition!
Exciting update on the CryoET Data Portal! A new annotation set from Mart Last & team is now live. They’ve doubled available annotations with >1,800 tomograms of Chlamydomonas reinhardtii which now have almost fully dense labels, and all can be visualized in the browser using Neuroglancer.
Thrilled to share that our work with the Ben Black Lab, led by a co-mentored star MD/PhD student Katie Kixmoeller, now is formally published! We used cryo-ET to study kinetochore features in human mitotic chromosomes. 🧬🔬❄️

Thrilled to share our @elife.bsky.social paper "Inflammasomes primarily restrict cytosolic Salmonella replication within human macrophages" by 1st author Dr. @marisaegan.bsky.social (@cambupenn.bsky.social alum, now faculty @swarthmorecollege.bsky.social)! elifesciences.org/articles/90107 🧵(1/n)
Excited to share our new @science.org paper! Led by postdocs Ruchao Peng and Xin Xu, we used cryo-EM/ET to reveal the influenza ribonucleoprotein complex structure and its strand-sliding mechanism for RNA synthesis, paving the way for new antivirals.

...and big thanks to @jiwasa.bsky.social for making this amazing video to illustrate the strand-sliding mechanism!
